Busan, South Korea

On June 2, 2019June 8, 2019 By WeezeXChristinaIn AsiaLeave a comment

Before moving out of Asia later this year I wanted to do a few more weekend city trips. I’d visited North Korea in 2013, so decided to check out the South. I didn’t really gravitate towards any particular city so when a few friends recommended Busan, I  said alright, & found a cheap flight there. This …

Palau Palau. Wow wow wow.

On April 29, 2019September 14, 2019 By WeezeXChristinaIn Asia, Scuba & Underwater, World War I/World War II3 Comments

‘I love diving but I don’t think I ever look as happy as I see you when I look at your eyes underwater!’ Deco Joe, to me. I looked down, and there it was; through the hundreds of spawning red snapper - my first Bull Shark. Unmistakable with its square snout and thick, sturdy body, …

Tokyo.

On March 9, 2019March 20, 2019 By WeezeXChristinaIn Asia2 Comments

Seeing a hardcore band in Japan was on my wish list of things to do during my time living back in Asia. So when Earth Crisis & Sect announced their Japanese tour it felt like a gift I couldn't refuse. I’d never had any real desire to visit the Japanese capital, and I’d heard Osaka was …

#MyFirstLiveaboard, Diving in Komodo

On September 26, 2018October 11, 2020 By WeezeXChristinaIn Asia, Scuba & Underwater4 Comments

The Diving. Let's start with the diving. Cause it's always about the diving. The reason I decided to face my fears of strong currents and book a liveaboard during full moon, when the currents are in fact at their strongest. So, was it worth it? I clearly survived, but did I enjoy myself?  Fuck yeh …

Sharp Island & Tap Mun (Grass Island) – Sai Kung

On August 5, 2018August 12, 2018 By WeezeXChristinaIn Asia, Hong Kong2 Comments

Sharp Island I needed to get out of the city and into the water, but wanted a little more adventure than my usual 20 minute bus to Repulse Bay - run to Deep Water Bay - collapse in the water for a couple of hours. I’d seen signs for snorkelling at Sharp Island when I first …

Go-en on in Kyoto. Pedalling.

On May 29, 2018May 30, 2018 By WeezeXChristinaIn AsiaLeave a comment

After a decent nights sleep I woke up excited to be getting back on a bike. Caught the 207 bus towards Kyoto Train Station and 25 minutes later I was at the Cycle Kyoto office. I had chosen the 'North Tour' mainly because it covered more sights that the 'South Tour' rather than actually knowing …

Kickin’ it in Kyoto

On May 28, 2018May 28, 2018 By WeezeXChristinaIn AsiaLeave a comment

After not having much initial interest in visiting Japan before this year, I booked my flights back, this time to Kyoto, within a week of landing home from Hiroshima and Miyajima, my first trip in January. I thought it was such a beautiful, interesting country I had to go back and explore more. When I'd asked …

Miyajima

On February 5, 2018February 5, 2018 By WeezeXChristinaIn Asia, Memorial & Politics, World War I/World War II4 Comments

When I left my hostel on Monday morning my heart sank a little. I was prepared for the cold, even for a few short showers, but with the dark, grey skies raining down a mix of rain and snow that wasn't going to settle, I just foresaw myself being very wet, and very cold all …

Hiroshima

On February 1, 2018February 2, 2018 By WeezeXChristinaIn Asia, Memorial & Politics, World War I/World War II5 Comments

Despite being asked many times in my life about what it was like growing up in Japan, I'd never been to the Land of the Rising Sun before. My reason for visiting Hiroshima, unsurprising to anyone that knows me, was the due to it being the place of denotation of the world's first Atomic Bomb. …

Tai Po Market – Historical Walk

On December 10, 2017June 26, 2018 By WeezeXChristinaIn Asia, Hong Kong2 Comments

I always knew Tai Po existed as a place, and perhaps I'd been there as a kid, but I can't remember how it made it on my 'Hong Kong day trip' list. Having done it now, I definitely know why it was put on there. A guided walk around Tai Po Market came on the …

Spent Dan’s 50th bday weekend with him in Dublin, & my 40th last Nov. Pretty crazy we are in those decades but… whatever… 😂 probably don’t seem too similar but we share so many passions, views on life, the world, what matters. He’s inspired me infinitely, supported me, looked after me when I needed it most - heart of gold, and unbelievably calm. The things he’s done, the person he is - I’m so, so proud of him, and eternally grateful to be his baby sister. 🥹❤️🥲 He’s also an incredible photographer. I just like to photo him photoing.
My second fight. I was way more nervous than the first, for a variety of reasons. Tbh I didn’t actually feel nervous for the first one. This time, the week before, I couldn’t shift that feeling in my stomach - even though it frustrated me - I love sparring, I love fighting and want to do much, much more of it. I don’t mind being hit, being hurt - but there you go. I have lots of thoughts on the actual fight itself but that’s not for here. Just a huge, huge thanks to my coaches, cornermen, warm up partners (not that they had a choice 😂) and supporters - everyone that wished me luck, & spoke to me after. 🥹The faith you seem to have in me sometimes feels undeserved, but mostly just makes me want to push even harder 😈 And of course a huge thanks to Aleks & her coach China for giving me a brilliant battle 🙏 #muaythai #muaythaiwomen
The PEOPLE. You never know who you’re gonna get in a travel group. I travel solo a lot. I get on with most people generally but I need my own physical space, head space. And again, on a Girls That Scuba trip - it hasn’t just been one or two people I adored, but the whole entourage. So much laughter, games, shared excitement, nerves, memories - experiences. Need to put laughter down twice…. The skiff tours, hot tub, SHARK ATTACK, ‘that’s what she said…’ And my dive group - the Hammerheads 🥹 What a crew. You got me, I got you 💙I still spent time alone reading, chilling, journalling - everyone was the same, no pressure to socialise, and no one left out. So grateful to be with such an amazing, fun, interesting group of people. Including the amazing crew/DM’s - super professional, very friendly and a lotta lotta fun. Thank you all. Nixie love you 🥰🥹🙏
THE SHARKS. My dream trip to Mexico I’m guessing would actually be a lot of peoples’ worst nightmare. In the middle of the ocean, a day away from real land surrounded by sharks. A few weeks later it’s hard to really believe I was there. Seeing my favourite creature of all, the Tiger Shark, was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I wondered if I’d be scared - but I was just in awe. I shouted ‘muthafckr’ out loud and just watched - I don’t know if my heart stopped or was racing. And seeing another on the most incredible ‘shark quest’ a couple of days later (where we also saw a oceanic white tip) I was so blessed. And the Hammerheads. Oh my. Schooling scallop headed hammerheads. My heart.
Today’s training. Loved it. So much to do, to work on, to improve... So much to think about - always… until it clicks. But then…. you still have to drill, because you might forget… and you can always improve. So this is my life. Training, or thinking about training. #muaythai #muaythaiwomen #boxing #boxingwomen #thisgirlcan
An after training chat made me want to cover this song - putting a new meaning on it 🇮🇪 - at the time, full of endorphins & happy post Muay Thai emotions it seemed like the perfect birthday post. This morning, not so sure… not even one pic of the birthday person… 😂 still, this one is for you Andy @andrew_burns_fitness - thank you for everything. Eternally grateful an Instagram ad brought you into my life - brightening mine, and so many other peoples lives - helping to keep Bayswater safe… ❤️‍🔥🥷
