Palau Palau. Wow wow wow.

‘I love diving but I don’t think I ever look as happy as I see you when I look at your eyes underwater!’ Deco Joe, to me. I looked down, and there it was; through the hundreds of spawning red snapper - my first Bull Shark. Unmistakable with its square snout and thick, sturdy body, …

Tokyo – History & Hardcore

On March 10, 2019March 21, 2019 By WeezeXChristinaIn AsiaLeave a comment

Having the dorm to myself again I did a little yoga, drank some crap coffee and ate my weetabix mush before heading off to the Edo-Tokyo Museum. An easy twelves stops away from the JR station by my hostel I was 30 minutes later, there, staring up at this huge apocalyptic style building. I suppose …

Tokyo.

On March 9, 2019March 20, 2019 By WeezeXChristinaIn Asia2 Comments

Seeing a hardcore band in Japan was on my wish list of things to do during my time living back in Asia. So when Earth Crisis & Sect announced their Japanese tour it felt like a gift I couldn't refuse. I’d never had any real desire to visit the Japanese capital, and I’d heard Osaka was …

Muay Thai Teeping, Krabi

On February 26, 2019March 4, 2019 By WeezeXChristinaIn Asia, Scuba & UnderwaterLeave a comment

Refilling my water bottle mid Muay Thai class at Warrior I saw a poster on the wall for a group trip to a camp in Phuket. In that split second I decided that I should go train in Thailand, and dedicated that night to finding out where. Although Phuket is famous for its Muay Thai …

Pok Fu Lam Village. Yes, village.

On January 13, 2019January 17, 2019 By WeezeXChristinaIn Asia, Hong KongLeave a comment

I moved back to Hong Kong in an attempt to really get to know the place I called home; and to find how I fit in, if at all, in the city that I grew up in. I knew there was so much more to Hong Kong than what I had seen and experienced, so …

#Myfirstdragon – Komodo Islands & boat living

On September 30, 2018October 26, 2018 By WeezeXChristinaIn Asia, Scuba & Underwater1 Comment

Being the super keen organised person I am, when I turned up at Wicked Diving Centre I was told to come back in a few hours as I’d already checked in and sorted my gear out. In all honesty initially I was little annoyed; I could have just chilled by the hostel pool. But I …

#MyFirstLiveaboard, Diving in Komodo

On September 26, 2018October 11, 2020 By WeezeXChristinaIn Asia, Scuba & Underwater4 Comments

The Diving. Let's start with the diving. Cause it's always about the diving. The reason I decided to face my fears of strong currents and book a liveaboard during full moon, when the currents are in fact at their strongest. So, was it worth it? I clearly survived, but did I enjoy myself?  Fuck yeh …

#MyfirstManta, Komodo

On September 24, 2018October 11, 2020 By WeezeXChristinaIn Asia, Scuba & Underwater2 Comments

Komodo is know for its crazy strong currents. So, despite wanting to go, due to my fear of strong currents I never thought I would. But incredible pictures kept popping up on my feeds; not just of the underwater life, but the surrounding islands too. Girls That Scuba hosted a liveaboard there, and it seemed …

Trapped in my mind. Fear. Anxiety.

On September 14, 2018February 24, 2020 By WeezeXChristinaIn Thoughts2 Comments

I don't know much about what triggers other people - but this post is about my experience during a period of my life (around 2009) living with panic attacks and anxiety, so if it might trigger you - best not read it.   Fear. Am I a fearful person? Sometimes. Does it matter? Sometimes. There are …

Ma Wan ‘Abandoned’ Village

On August 26, 2018 By WeezeXChristinaIn Asia, Hong KongLeave a comment

A few months ago I was sat on the Airport Express bus going home. Crossing Tsing Yi Bridge I looked down and saw, tucked away on the side of what looked like a small, but pretty affluent island, an abandoned village. I wanted to go there!  Social media to the rescue! Took a picture, asked …

Awesome day trip to @southend_combat_academy for their Interclub. Had two fantastically different fights - both with wonderful opponents; sharing @ameibea_ ‘s first interclub experience & then felt very honoured to be pushed (& kicked…) hard by pro fighter & SCA coach @kjdempsey_
I have almost no time (or energy) for anything other than work & training right now… but squeezing in some hardcore & hangs with my hardcore family is still a priority ❤️‍🔥 So much love to @ironed_out_lbu & everyone that made yesterday afternoon so awesome. Including the yoot bike gang. So many jokes. 🖤 Cant wait to see the final video 🤘 and every hardcore video needs a Parma Violet right..? 💞💜
Spent Dan’s 50th bday weekend with him in Dublin, & my 40th last Nov. Pretty crazy we are in those decades but… whatever… 😂 probably don’t seem too similar but we share so many passions, views on life, the world, what matters. He’s inspired me infinitely, supported me, looked after me when I needed it most - heart of gold, and unbelievably calm. The things he’s done, the person he is - I’m so, so proud of him, and eternally grateful to be his baby sister. 🥹❤️🥲 He’s also an incredible photographer. I just like to photo him photoing.
My second fight. I was way more nervous than the first, for a variety of reasons. Tbh I didn’t actually feel nervous for the first one. This time, the week before, I couldn’t shift that feeling in my stomach - even though it frustrated me - I love sparring, I love fighting and want to do much, much more of it. I don’t mind being hit, being hurt - but there you go. I have lots of thoughts on the actual fight itself but that’s not for here. Just a huge, huge thanks to my coaches, cornermen, warm up partners (not that they had a choice 😂) and supporters - everyone that wished me luck, & spoke to me after. 🥹The faith you seem to have in me sometimes feels undeserved, but mostly just makes me want to push even harder 😈 And of course a huge thanks to Aleks & her coach China for giving me a brilliant battle 🙏 #muaythai #muaythaiwomen
The PEOPLE. You never know who you’re gonna get in a travel group. I travel solo a lot. I get on with most people generally but I need my own physical space, head space. And again, on a Girls That Scuba trip - it hasn’t just been one or two people I adored, but the whole entourage. So much laughter, games, shared excitement, nerves, memories - experiences. Need to put laughter down twice…. The skiff tours, hot tub, SHARK ATTACK, ‘that’s what she said…’ And my dive group - the Hammerheads 🥹 What a crew. You got me, I got you 💙I still spent time alone reading, chilling, journalling - everyone was the same, no pressure to socialise, and no one left out. So grateful to be with such an amazing, fun, interesting group of people. Including the amazing crew/DM’s - super professional, very friendly and a lotta lotta fun. Thank you all. Nixie love you 🥰🥹🙏
THE SHARKS. My dream trip to Mexico I’m guessing would actually be a lot of peoples’ worst nightmare. In the middle of the ocean, a day away from real land surrounded by sharks. A few weeks later it’s hard to really believe I was there. Seeing my favourite creature of all, the Tiger Shark, was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I wondered if I’d be scared - but I was just in awe. I shouted ‘muthafckr’ out loud and just watched - I don’t know if my heart stopped or was racing. And seeing another on the most incredible ‘shark quest’ a couple of days later (where we also saw a oceanic white tip) I was so blessed. And the Hammerheads. Oh my. Schooling scallop headed hammerheads. My heart.
